Galvanic: high-quality surface treatments

Galvanic process: how it works

The galvanic process involves immersing objects in galvanic baths, where thin layers of metal are deposited. During the process, an electric current is applied between the object and the metal intended for deposition, allowing a uniform coating to form. This method is ideal for galvanizing metal surfaces, enhancing their corrosion resistance and aesthetic appearance.

LEM offers galvanic treatments with Nickel or Nickel-free options on metals, providing safe solutions for applications where skin contact is a determining factor. Materials suitable for galvanizing include steel, iron, copper, zamak, brass, and many others.

Galvanic treatments advantages

Galvanic technology is used to coat metals with a protective and decorative layer, enhancing both their durability and aesthetic appeal. Through advanced galvanization processes, LEM provides high-quality coatings for industries such as design, fashion, and manufacturing, where both appearance and longevity are crucial. Our galvanic treatments offer superior protection against corrosion and wear, extending the lifespan and maintaining the quality of treated materials.

CORROSION PROTECTION

Galvanic coatings create a protective barrier against oxidation and harsh environmental conditions, significantly extending material lifespan.

ENHANCED DURABILITY

Treated metals exhibit superior resistance to wear, friction, and mechanical stress, making them ideal for demanding applications.

WIDE RANGE OF FINISHES

Our galvanic treatments provide high-end decorative finishes, such as gold, palladium, and ruthenium, offering a luxurious and refined look.

VERSATILITY

Galvanic technology allows for the treatment of various materials and complex geometries, making it suitable for industries like fashion, design, and furniture.

CUSTOMIZATION

We offer tailor-made solutions, with different base metal coatings (copper, nickel, and bronze) and precious metal finishes (gold, palladium, ruthenium), customizable in terms of color and thickness.

COMPLIANCE WITH ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

LEM ensures compliance with environmental standards, integrating advanced recycling systems and wastewater purification technologies into its galvanic operations.

LEM’s Galvanic Plants

LEM utilizes two automatic systems, one manual system, and one semi-automatic system to ensure high-quality galvanic coatings.

  • Manual static system: requires great precision and attention from operators, who manage each stage of the process.
  • Automatic static system: ideal for large-scale production, capable of creating nickel and nickel-free coatings with exceptional efficiency.
  • Semi-automatic barrel system: perfect for small metal parts, ensuring maximum quality even for the smallest pieces.

FAQ  Frequently Asked Questions About Galvanic Treatments

Galvanic treatment is the process of coating a conductive substrate with a thin layer of metal through electrolytic deposition. This involves chemical reactions, oxidations, and reductions that are non-spontaneous. By supplying electrical energy, new chemical species, initially absent, are produced.

PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), on the other hand, is a method for depositing thin films under vacuum conditions, based on a completely different principle from galvanic treatment. In PVD, the material is sublimated from a condensed phase into atoms or molecules and transported as vapor through a vacuum environment to the substrate (our object), where it condenses again.

The dimensions of treatable pieces depend on the type of system and the requested service. Our frames are designed to accommodate various accessory types, ensuring maximum treatment efficiency. To evaluate processing feasibility, we recommend direct consultation with our technical team.

A transparent varnish is not mandatory but can be applied upon request, depending on the product’s intended use and additional protection requirements.

The scrap rate represents the quantity of physiologically non-conforming pieces within a production process.
